The Contest:

On July 19th, contestants from around the world began battling for a prize known simply as Tourette's Official American Blitzkrieg Survival Kit.

Following the highly successful Spring Tournament of Evil, contestants were asked to read a poem from Tourette's forthcoming book, Nunt (Zygote Publishing, September 2004) and create a digital artwork interpretation based on that poem. Entries came in from as far away as Singapore.

As of August 23rd, voting to determine the winner is now open to the public. Voting will be closed August 30th, and the winner will be announced shortly thereafter.

The Prize

"This time, we wanted to crank the contest up a notch and really give our artists something to compete for," said Tourette of the coming tournament. "I was so impressed by the work that people put into their compositions last time around, with their interpretations of my written work, that we wanted to really reward the winner on this go. And I think we've done that. "

The past winner, known by her internet handle, Buckbo, was inclined to agree.

"I was just happy to win last time, and the gas mask was quite the prize," she said, "but this'll bring a whole different level of competition. The prize is sort of obscene, in some ways, but I've read some of his book, and it totally fits."

Tourette's Nunt tells the shocking story of a man who walks out on his wife and embarks on a ferocious two year odyssey of womanizing and alcohol-fuelled violence across a barbaric America.
The prize, intended to complement the book,
includes, among other things:

a gasmask
a bottle of whiskey
copies of Camus' The Plague and Dostoevksy's Crime and Punishment
Francis Ford Coppola's Apocalypse Now
issues of Soldier of Fortune and Hustler magazine
a jar of vaseline
a 12 inch double pronged dildo, nick-named Il Duce
a Holy Bible
a Johnny Cash album
an American flag
a book of matches
a notebook and a red pen.

"It's everything that a person would need to take themselves on a tour of immolation across the United States. I wanted it to represent the book, in some way, and I think it does that," said Tourette. "And with this kit, the winner's gonna make a whole lot of new friends."
